We are currently living in a time where technology intertwines seamlessly into our everyday lives, making it a part of our daily routine and activities. The concept of journaling has come a long way and has evolved beyond a pen and paper. The concept of video journaling, or more well known today as “vlogging”, has become a popular trend and activity that has been done by a lot of people, especially those who are in the late millennial and Gen-Z demographic. Vlogging offers a variety of benefits especially to those who are currently navigating their life during their 20’s.
Perhaps the main benefit of vlogging is the fact that it can be stored and be saved permanently, either to a physical hard drive, or online. This provides an opportunity for you to access and watch it after months, and even years to come. It is a great way to reminisce, and feel those nostalgic moments while watching these special moments when you were younger.
As a content creator and filmmaker myself, I started to vlog my life, especially those special moments that I don’t want to forget. It feels great to capture those special moments and even relive them again by watching back the videos that I made in the past. It has always reminded me how far I have come, and how those special memories and experiences in the past have shaped me to where I am at now. My favourite part of the whole process is being able to capture raw and authentic emotions and unfiltered moments of my life, making it a more unique experience.
During your 20’s you will also get to experience a series of special moments that are only experienced during this stage of your life. From graduating college to landing your first job, navigating relationships, travelling the world, or discovering new hobbies and interests. Being able to capture these experiences in real time will allow you to preserve them and can cherish them for the rest of your life. It also allows you to compare your life in the future when you look back at these exciting phases of your life.
Video journaling is also a form of self expression where you can become vulnerable, honest, and unfiltered. And remember, vlogs do not have to be posted online for the world to see. You can choose what you want to show and share with the world, and you can also choose which ones you want to be kept private, the ones that are more personal and confidential for you, such as life frustrations, failures, insecurities, and aspirations.
In conclusion, video journaling or vlogging is a great tool for growth, self discovery, and learning. As you start doing it, capturing both highs and lows of your life, you will create a visual narrative of your growth, and evolution as an individual. So go on and grab that camera, start recording yourself, and embark on a journey of self discovery and learning.
